CHILDREN'S BOOK ILLUSTRATION WORKSHOP

This is not a workshop of aspiring illustrators but a weekly summer dining club fondly called KLUB BARBOUNIA which my family and I are members of.

My workshops share the same relaxed atmosphere - that's all.

Now in its fourth year, enrol in KORKY PAUL's ten week workshop on picture book illustration. Each workshop is two hours long, usually from 7pm to 9pm in Oxford.

Students will learn how to prepare a proposed children's book for presentation to a publisher. The workshop starts with finding a suitable story, preparing rough drawings, layout, typography and through to producing at least three finished art pieces ready for publication.

The aim of the workshop is NOT to teach drawing but to develop and expand the students drawing abilities, with a view to technique and style.

The workshop is limited to ten places and each student should bring with them lots of enthusiasm, energy, and desire to do lots of home work.

Bring too a portfolio of your best pieces to the enrolment day and the first workshop.

UNIVERSITIES
I give lectures mainly to students studying primary school teaching and art and design, but will gladly speak to, say, aspiring brain surgeons. I also give talks at conferences organised by local education authorities

With the aid of slides, much waving of hands and portfolios of artwork from my various books I will enthuse students with the delights of illustrating for picture books - one being This is a Job Where You Get Paid to Play.

The portfolios are an archive of each book, containing preparatory rough drawings, draft manuscripts, angry letters from authors, finished art, colour proofs and the published book.

I can give an hour lecture, stay for a day or two -- or even a week depending on time.
